It appears that spring is finally here! I’ve seen some trees around here starting to blossom, and my own bonsai tree seeds have started to grow rapidly! I’m becoming green-fingered with my latest interest in growing things…is that what happens when you get your own place?
This weeks “Wee County Sessions” video is now up and available to view. I have chosen a cover song this week, the beautiful “Galway to Graceland” by Richard Thompson. I first head this sung song at Elphin Drift and since then it’s been stuck in my mind and is one of my favourite songs to sing.
If you are enjoying “The Wee County Sessions”, please feel free to share the videos with your friends and spread the music!
It’s a beautiful day today in Alloa and I have just uploaded the latest video for “The Wee County Sessions”. This week I have chosen my own song “Meetings and Partings” as this has never been recorded and I thought it was about time you were able to listen to this song.
It seems to be that the more I think about “The Wee County Sessions” the more ideas I seem to be getting for it. I am now hoping to feature the occasional special guest from the Wee County on the blog. Hopefully I should have a guest video in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Thanks again to everyone who has shared the previous videos, it really means a lot!
Thank you so much to everyone who has watched and shared my last video “The Galway Shawl”. This weeks video is the very dark traditional Scottish song “Johnny O’ Braidislee”. I’ve been singing this one for a couple of years now, so I’m glad I’ve been able to get a video of it uploaded.
I’ve decided the name “Video Blog” was a bit boring, so I have named this new weekly blog “The Wee County Sessions”.
Thanks to Ursula Elmquist for her song suggestions, I’m already looking into your suggestions and enjoying tinkering around with them. If anyone has any song suggestions, please let me know!
In my last email I mentioned that I was toying with the idea of starting a regular video blog. Well, today I have just made the first video for my blog! Yay! I will be performing one song with each post This weeks song is the traditional Irish ballad “The Galway Shawl”.
I am looking for songs to expand my repertoire, so if there is a song you would like me to sing, leave a post on my Facebook, Twitter, website etc and let me know your suggestions. If it is a song I can do, you may see it featured in a video one day! I can’t guarantee to be able to do everyone’s suggestions, but all ideas will be appreciated, particularly traditional songs.
