Well, what can I say? I am absolutely blown away by the sheer support and dedication of my fans! My target of £700 was exceeded in only 6 days! Thank you all so much for you help, you have no idea how truly grateful I am.
Even though the target has been met, the campaign will continue until 16th June. Promises can still be made and this is the only way to pre-order your own exclusive edition of the CD, which will have different artwork and packaging to the standard edition of the CD. Who knows, there may even be a wee bonus on the CD. All extra funds will be used to order more CDs and will enable to me to aquire better quality equipment, for an even better album!
I am still months away from the CD being recorded, however there are some things I can do just now, and I have already started working on the arrangements for the songs, and I can say it’s gonna be one great album!
So, if you want to be one of the first to receive the album and be proud to say you helped created, click the button below, make a promise and choose one of my fantastic exclusive rewards!
You will by now have realised that releasing an album is something I have been dreaming of since I started playing music. I am now at the stage where I have plenty of material to work into a full album, which I am absolutely delighted about. I will be recording the album myself in my home studio, and am immensely excited about getting started. However, even though I will be recording the album myself, there are still a lot of costs involved in producing an album. This is where I need your help.
Bloom VC Campaign
I don’t know if you have ever been involved in a crowd-funding campaign before, but I have and I can honestly say it is a much more rewarding way of buying your favourite band’s album than simply buying it in a shop. Both times that I have taken part in a campaign, as a fan, I found the whole experience to be delightful, I actually felt like I was valued as a fan. I was kept updated all the way through the recording process, and when the CD final arrived I was absolutely delighted that I had played such an important part in it’s making.
I have decided to go ahead and start a crowdfunding campaign of my own to raise the funds to produce my album. My campaign is now live on Bloom VC’s site and you can find more detailed information about the campaign using the link at the top of this post. Below is a basic guide to how the whole campaign works.
• I have a target that has to be met to fund my album, and this target has to be met by 16th June 2012. With every promise made, it all counts towards this target.
• Only when the target has been reached that your promise is collected from your PayPal account or debit/credit card. The funds are then passed to me and I can proceed with the album.
• However, if the target is not met in time, no money is collected from anyone and the album cannot be produced.
• If you choose to make a promise, there are a variety of rewards that you can choose for making your promise, including a signed CD, specially made wristband or T-shirt…you can even have your name mentioned in the album’s booklet. Basically, its just like a very advanced pre-sale.
• All funds will be used to purchase additional recording equipment, to cover the cost of sending the tracks for mastering by a professional engineer and to pay for the physical CDs to be produced.
How You Can Help
If you have read this email and you want to help fund this album, just visit my campaign at www.bloomvc.com, or using the link at the top of this post, make your promise and choose your reward. You can also make a promise without a reward, but I’m sure you’ll like the rewards I have to offer. There are 2 videos on the campaign, one from me explaining the contents of this email in more detail, the other is a live performance of my new song “In the Glen”, which will feature in the album should this campaign succeed.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and for checking out my campaign. I want to say a huge thank you in advance to all those choosing to make a promise – it really really means a lot and I’m really excited about producing a brilliant album for you all!
As you may have noticed, my website has had a completed overhaul! I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a lot tidier and cleaner looking. It has mostly the same content, just it works out a lot better for everyone having it this way. So have a look around, and if you have any problems or suggestions for the site, please feel free to get in touch.
After selling out of my debut CD “Taste of Freedom” and also due to me now having written more songs, I’ve decided the time has come to record my first full album. It’s a decision I’ve been thinking about for some time now, but I decided to bite the bullet and go for it! The album will be recorded by myself in my home studio, now that I have learned a lot more about recording I feel confident enough that I can do a great job of this. There is a twist in the tale however…
As you are probably well aware, the economy is a mess and times are tough for everyone. Being an unsigned musician has many ups, but there’s a fair few downs too. Although I am recording the album myself, the whole process will still be a costly affair and this is where I need your help…ever heard of crowdfunding? If not, it is essentialy an early pre-sale. I have been involved, as a fan, with crowdfunding campaigns for other bands and I can hand on heart say it is a much more rewarding way to get involved.
More information will follow in the next few days as I finalise things. Meanwhile. I hope you enjoy looking around the new site and I hope you are as excited at the prospect of my first album as I am.
After a brilliant day at Celtic Music Radio yesterday, and the very first performance of my new song, I have made a demo of “In the Glen” which is now available to listen to on the player below. The song tells the story of how Kirsten and I got engaged. Not usually one to write love songs, but I’m pretty chuffed with it! Hope you enjoy it.
For those of you that missed it, my appearance on Sandy’s Sunday Roast is available to listen again, the 1st hour of the show here and the 2nd hour here.
My website is still available in it’s old format, however the new site should be up and running this weekend. It’s looking a lot tidier and user friendly, so I’m eager for it to all be done, but out of my control now.
Even though the Roxy gig has been cancelled, it’s not all doom and gloom. I will still be appearing live on Celtic Music Radio this Easter Sunday from 3-5pm GMT and will be performing my brand spanking new song “In the Glen” for the very first time!
Make sure you listen in to www.celticmusicradio.net for my first live radio appearance this year 🙂
