When Snow Falls

“When Snow Falls” is my long overdue second Christmas song.  After the humorously honest “Staff Christmas Party” released in 2013, “When Snow Falls” is my attempt to capture nostalgia of thinking back to Christmas as a child, with a little bit of sadness that those days are in the past and I’m not the young child I once was.

The snow falls down around my face
Like it used to when I was a boy
The way it falls, so gently
Takes me back to a time of great joy
A time of fun, excitement and some
Laughter with those I hold dear
It happens each year, my heart fills with cheer
When snow falls

When snow falls
When snow falls
It happens each year, my heart fills with cheer
When snow falls

I recall when I was a child
With excitement I’d creep down the stairs
I would shake and I’d shiver
Thinking of the treasures down there
My father he was just the same
He’d see in my eyes the boy
That he used to be when he was wee
When snow falls

When snow falls
When snow falls
The boy he used to be when he was wee
When snow falls

I’d open the door to the living room
Reach up and switch on the big light
The room would fill with colour
Oh, what a wonderful sight
The dram I’d left out was empty
The carrots and the biscuits were gone
And to my surprise, gifts each shape and size
When snow falls

When snow falls
When snow falls
To my surprise, gifts each shape and size
When snow falls

Now I’ve grown much older
My hair is sprinkled with snow
I think back and I wonder
Where did the years all go?
I smile down at my son
And I see in his eyes the boy
That I used to be, when I was wee
When snow falls

When snow falls
When snow falls
The boy I used to be when I was wee
When snow falls
